2019 is the year for reward for effort at Merton Living! We have unashamedly copied another organisation's (with permission) awards programme. We have introduced a Bright Ideas Award to encourage innovation, and continuous improvement. This is also to engage the staff more and give more ownership of their working experience and the care of our consumers.

The second award is the Extra Mile Award to encourage more teamwork, and helping one another out when able. It is also to encourage the staff to support our consumers to be as independent as possible, making them feel valued.
Each award is awarded bi-monthly and the reward will be wellness related, eg a relaxing or remedial massage. This also ties in well with our Get Healthy at Work initiative. The Continuous Improvement Committee will award the Bright Ideas Award, and the Merton Living Board will choose the winner of the Extra Mile Award.
In January we awarded our first Bright Ideas winner/s. It was shared by two Merton Court staff for attending education and bringing back a great idea to improve infection control and help prevent outbreaks of the flu or gastro. Congratulations to Madeline Coster and Trudy Pulga!
At the February Board meeting, the first Extra Mile award recipient was decided. We had four wonderful nominations by staff and consumers. The nominees were Rebecca Logue, Audrey Golledge, John & Harvey Sercombe, and Annie Barnett.
Congratulations go to Annie Barnett, who was nominated for her dedication to the residents at Merton Court, particularly for staying with a resident (with no family) until they passed away recently.
Maddy, Trudy & Annie all received vouchers to Sheryn's Beauty Spot for some well deserved pampering!
